The purpose of the dissertation is to question the creative work gained from the use of structure, can visual creative work be obtained with strict use of rules and grids? In its evaluation the text takes into consideration the development in graphic design from modernism through deconstructivism and post-modernism showing examples of work from important figures like Josef Müller-Brockmann, Jan Tschichold, Wolfgang Weingart, David Carson, etc.
